The winter has arrived in the Catalan Pyrenees. It is time to enjoy the snow sports and activities you enjoy most with the kids. Put your boots on and wrap up warm, because there is a huge variety of activities for families to enjoy. A freezing December promises adventure, nature, exercise and even a surprise or two. There’s lots on offer in the mountains.

Tarzan for a couple of hours

It’s not the forest but it could be. At the Molina Adventure Park you can enjoy a very active day with the family. At its adventure circuits installed in the trees, you can all swing from tree to tree like Tarzan, while you try to make it over the Tibetan bridges, climbing vines, nets and swing ropes… And for the most daring, a 250m super zip-rope awaits!
Fun and safety guaranteed. The circuits are colour-coded, according to age, level and height for all those who wish to try the adventure in the trees. And there are also instructors who make sure that nobody gets hurt. The minimum age to take part is 4 years old.

Active ecotourism with snowshoes

Have you ever wondered what a snowy forest sounds like? At the Aigüestortes i Sant Maurici National Park you will enjoy the silence and the wonder of nature. You will only hear the sound of footsteps. And you will also be doing sport. Sign up for active ecotourism with snowshoes for the whole family.
This is no standard outing. On this excursion through glacier valleys, snowy forests and reservoirs you will be accompanied by an expert guide in snow studies along the way. You will learn which type of snow is in different areas of the park, how the wind transforms the landscape or how we to discern the alarm signals in the event of an avalanche. You will find out many interesting facts and that many myths about the mountains are just that, myths.

Take the rack railway, enjoy the snow

In Vall de Núria a guided tour and snowshoe excursion awaits. The ascent is via rack railway, the only means of access to the valley, which offers incredible views. The kids will be glued to the window. Once up there, you will just have to open your eyes wide and breathe in the pure air that surrounds you. You will discover a place rich in nature accompanied by a guide and later you will go into the forest on snowshoes, feeling the fresh snow under your feet. When the excursion is over, anyone looking for more adventure will have free time to ski or to practice any other snow activity. And if what you want is to enjoy the views, you can access the mirador from the cable car.

Swap your skis for a segway

Segway in the snow? That’s right. In La Molina you can go on family tours with this, very easy to use, form of transport. Touring the paths that surround the snowy forests and lakes with the children is a lot of fun.
But always wearing a helmet, safety first. All trips are with a guide, who will show you how to drive the segway if you have not used one before.
It is really easy and you will get the hang of it in just a few minutes. There are three types of routes based on age: 15 minutes discovery (for 7 year olds) and routes of one and a half hours for 10 years and older. An original alternative to spend a day in the snow.

In Vilafranca del Penedès, the black cock is king

Come and spend a weekend in Vilafranca del Penedès, at the Cock Fair, in family. At their poultry market, the little creatures are alive. The star is the black cock of Penedès, a native breed with protected designation of origin, but there are also hens, geese, capons… You will have Christmas dinner sorted and left overs for Boxing Day.
The Christmas atmosphere which you experience at the fair will make you keen to shop and wander. There are 240 stalls and a ton of activities. The adults will be able to enjoy DO Penedès wine and cava pairings with black cock, try artisan products and visit a wine cellar from the area. And there’s no need to worry about the kids. They can go for a ride on the fair train or skate on an ice rink. They will also be able to participate in a free workshop or in a parade. They will be highly entertained.

Come and pick up your tió

In Catalonia, Christmas would not be Christmas with a tió. This is why we offer you a very special family experience: hunt the tió. You will have to search through the woods, vineyards and paths, because it is well hidden. But don’t worry, because you will receive a map with the GPS coordinates of the route to find it. When the kids find their tió, they are sure to be surprised, because it will have a very special note attached for them. The kids will love their customised tió. You can enjoy this activity in Santa Fe del Penedès and in Navarcles, and in the wine cellars Abadal and Oller del Mas.
