Raval Barcelona Guided Tour with an Architect
At first sight
Discover the Raval Barcelona district, the cradle of arts and letters, with their new cultural spaces by the guide-architect
The Raval Barcelona district, between La Rambla and the Rondes, is the first “Eixample” of the modern city with an urban fabric very different from the rest of the Old Town streets and it’s marked by the continuity and the regularity of some urban islands and plots.
In the 80’s, the Raval Barcelona district was compact, dense and damaged. It is when the Administration applies a strong political push for revaluation Raval, reforming public spaces, rehabilitating and giving new uses to old historic buildings, renovated homes … until the opening of new public spaces and the creation of new equipments both for the neighborhood and for the city.
On this tour of Raval Barcelona, we will see the old convents and monasteries, which have become new cultural spaces in a neighborhood, who has been the refuge of bohemian, arts and letters, and now it hosts the new immigration, design and art.
